The Building of 4109 Woodside

I've kept a few of you up on the progress of the house we're building and I thought it would be fun to share it with all of you. It is truly a blessing by God how this house came to be and if you have a few minutes I'll do a quick rundown of the events leading up to it.
In September 2007, Dana and I felt a calling of the Lord to put our old house up for sale. We loved the house and it was a gift by God in 2004 so we didn't understand why we were suppose to sell it. But we followed the prompting of the spirit and put it up for sale...
THEN... Silence... for 6 months... nothing happened and during that time we thought we might have missed God's intention, but we started reading the Bible more deeply and God began to reveal more of himself to us...
One day in February, I was driving through a neighborhood that I loved and wanted to live in, never in a million years thinking I could afford to... and as I was driving down this road, there was a FOR SALE sign in one of the lots. Of course I called him and of course I thought I could never afford it...

I had been studying in Jeremiah and I read in chapter 32 where Jeremiah's nephew asked him to buy a piece of property from him... This got me thinking that maybe I should buy the property....

Then the next week I read in Isaiah 61:3 They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

The name of the subdivision I was looking at was called "The Oaks"
Now that was 2 affirmations in my prayers to God... but still no sale of my house. We stepped out in faith and put a contract on the lot...

Then on Good Friday, we had a contract on our house and they wanted to move in within the month... and we decided to try to go ahead and build a house on the lot that we wanted to buy and the next thing that happened was amazing...

We were looking for a ready-made house plan to fit the dimensions of the lot and we found a design that we liked and the name of it was "Chateau de la Barre" which translated in English means, "House of Witness"... Number 3 of the affirmations to proceed with the plan to buy the lot and build the house...

"....a planting of the Lord for the DISPLAY of HIS SPLENDOR."

The house broke ground on May 22nd and we are at the trimming and cabinet making stage... We should be able to move in by the end of September or so... Exactly one year from when we felt the call by God to move from the other house... He has promoted us so much in this one year that I can't wait to see what happens next year. As I pray this prayer of thanksgiving to God, I also humble myself in response to HIS goodness and pray for the ability to stay faithful....

I will close with this verse that spoke so loudly to me in 2004 when our breakthough happened...
It's Luke 16:10
"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

The Lord spoke to me that I had to start with what I had and be faithful with that and then he would give me more... But we have to start being faithful with the small things before he can trust us with anything more... If you are struggling with where you are in life, especially if it has to do with finances, I would recommend you start with where you are and be faithful... Start by tithing a full 10 percent, and your obedience will be noticed by the Lord.. Your heart will change and your desires will change to go in the direction that the Lord is leading you... Give him your all and surrender the control of your life and money and family and everything to the Lord...

Okay, enough preaching for one post... I hope you enjoy the pictures.
I love you all,
Lea Anne

LeaAnne....the same thing happened with us. We were really wanting to get the kids in a good school district and had always wanted some more land so they could play. The day we decided to put the house up for sale, I went out at midnight and put the sale sign up and had someone call the next morning at 7:30am who wanted to see it. They were the ones who bought it. God provided us with a place to stay while our house was being built and the whole time I'm contantly wondering where the money was coming from. Glenn has a great job at Baylor and the pay has allowed me to stay home with the kids but moving, storage, building a house....it was a lot. We remained faithful with our tithing and the whole time I thought of that verse that you mentioned. God has blessed us soooo much that we have even increased our giving and he remains to stay faithful with his promise. Thanks for sharing your story. It is great to sit back and see what God has done in our lives.
